"Kamala Harris' Joke on The Daily Show Leaves Audience Uneasy"

Comedian D.L. Hughley sparked controversy when he made a joke about Vice President Kamala Harris on a recent episode of "The Daily Show". Hughley, who was guest hosting the show, spoke about the death of Tyre Nichols, a Black man who died after being beaten by Memphis police officers, and commented that Harris was the first Vice President or President to attend the funeral of a Black person killed by police. He went on to say that while police reform hasn't been addressed, having a Black Vice President to attend these funerals is a good reason to have one.

However, the joke didn't receive the laughter that Hughley was expecting, as the audience was left mostly silent, a sharp contrast from the reaction to the previous joke. This joke adds to the larger narrative that has been painted of Harris as an ineffective and unprincipled leader, with "The Daily Show" previously mocking her public speaking skills.

Hughley's time as guest host on the show is coming to an end, and fellow comedian Chelsea Handler will be taking over next. It remains to be seen whether Handler and the show's joke writers will take a different approach when it comes to Harris and the Biden Administration.
