Antioch ca. local news, Eight New Officers Sworn In at Antioch Police Department Ceremony
Antioch, CA — In a formal ceremony held on May 13, 2025, at the Nick Rodriguez Community Center theater, the Antioch Police Department officially welcomed eight new officers to its ranks. Police Chief Joe Vigil administered the oaths of office in front of an audience of family members, friends, and fellow department personnel.
The additions bring the department’s total to 87 sworn officers, marking a continued effort to strengthen public safety and community policing in the city.
Meet the New Officers:
Altaaf Ahmed – A graduate of Cesar Chavez High School in Stockton, Ahmed previously served with the Stockton Police Department and is fluent in five languages, enhancing the department’s ability to serve Antioch’s diverse population.
Placido Serna – Hailing from Stockton, Serna holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology. A dedicated family man, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and their three children.
Priest Jennings – A lateral transfer from the Fresno Police Department, Jennings was born in Fresno and raised in Stockton. He brings with him a master’s degree and experience in collegiate athletics.
Ryan Reynolds – Originally from Vacaville, Reynolds is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He previously worked with the El Cerrito Police Department and is an avid bass fisherman and Jiu Jitsu practitioner.
Elias Orocio – Raised in Antioch after being born in Berkeley, Orocio is a recent police academy graduate currently pursuing a degree in finance.
Lorenzo Ortiz – From Hayward and raised in Antioch, Ortiz holds a degree in Kinesiology and has a background in physical therapy.
Daniel Campos – A Porterville native, Campos worked as an EMT before entering law enforcement, bringing valuable emergency medical experience to the force.
Phillip Rollins – A lateral officer with experience from the San Leandro Police Department, Rollins joins the team with established law enforcement credentials.
The ceremony highlighted the department’s focus on diversity, experience, and education among its newest recruits. Chief Vigil praised the officers for their commitment to service and expressed optimism about their future contributions to the Antioch community.
