In Duluth, Georgia, a nonprofit organization is offering more than just financial aid—it is providing hope to single parents determined to achieve their educational goals. H.O.P.E. Inc. (Helping Other People be Empowered) is creating pathways for single parents to not only return to school but to graduate and transform their futures.

Founded in 2009, H.O.P.E. Inc. has supported nearly 150 participants, currently serving 29 single-parent students enrolled in associate’s or bachelor’s degree programs. The organization recognizes the layered challenges these parents face—balancing work, parenting, and rigorous academic schedules—while often shouldering financial burdens alone.

To address these obstacles, the nonprofit offers a comprehensive support package. Participants receive $400 monthly toward housing costs, quarterly grocery stipends, gas assistance, and access to child care support. These resources are designed to reduce the daily stresses that can derail academic progress.

The program’s impact is reflected in its success rate, boasting an 83% graduation rate among its participants. For many, like Nikki Blount, the support has been life-changing. A mother of three, Blount found herself navigating single parenthood and financial hardship following a divorce. She enrolled in the Chamberlain School of Nursing in Sandy Springs and credits H.O.P.E. Inc. for giving her the structure, encouragement, and financial breathing room needed to excel academically while raising her children.

Danielle Hodge, the organization’s executive director, brings a personal understanding to the role, having once been a single parent pursuing higher education herself. She emphasizes that H.O.P.E. Inc. is more than a financial assistance program—it is a community designed to uplift, motivate, and empower.
