A fire at a cannabis dispensary in Leadville prompted air quality concerns for nearby residents
after thick smoke spread through the surrounding area. The incident occurred at a combined
dispensary and CBD retail store, leading local officials to issue health advisories as a
precaution.
Authorities warned that smoke exposure could affect people living within roughly a half-mile
radius of the fire. Residents were advised to remain indoors, close windows and doors, and limit
outdoor activity until air conditions improved. In some cases, temporary evacuations were
ordered to ensure public safety while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
Local schools responded to the situation as well. Outdoor activities were canceled at nearby
elementary schools due to concerns over smoke inhalation and reduced air quality. Emergency
crews remained on scene for several hours as they monitored conditions and prevented the fire
from spreading to adjacent structures.
No injuries were reported, and officials stated that the cause of the fire remains under
investigation. Air quality conditions were expected to improve as the smoke dissipated, with
authorities continuing to assess any lingering health risks for the community.
