Feature Artist Interview: Slimjamin Franklin

We had the opportunity to do an interview with independent recording artist Slimjamin Franklin, an artist focused not only on music, but on ownership, education, and building generational wealth through intellectual property.

With over a decade of experience in music, Slimjamin Franklin is using his platform to inspire independent artists to think beyond streams and focus on long-term ownership and financial literacy within the music industry.
How long have you been doing music?
Slimjamin Franklin has been recording and performing music since 2012, steadily building a catalog and navigating the independent music business through experience, consistency, and entrepreneurship.
What are your long-term goals with music?
According to Slimjamin Franklin, the mission extends far beyond releasing records. The long-term goal is to continue building and growing a music catalog while establishing ownership and collecting all royalties connected to the work.

In addition to music, Slimjamin Franklin also offers a teachable course designed to help independent artists learn about royalties, publishing, and music revenue streams. The goal is to help creators understand how intellectual property can become passive residual income and eventually create generational wealth.
What inspired this project?
The latest album, “Blueprints & Schematics,” was inspired by Slimjamin Franklin’s entire musical journey — the process, the lessons, the setbacks, the growth, and the advocacy for independent artists.
The project reflects the mindset of strategy, ownership, perseverance, and turning creativity into something sustainable for future generations.
If someone listens to the entire album, what type of story would they leave with?
Listeners can expect themes centered around independence, resilience, self-development, business awareness, and legacy building. The album represents both personal experiences and a larger blueprint for independent artists looking to create long-term value from their work.
