“The Untold History of Makeda: Queen of Sheba”

Makeda, the legendary Queen of Sheba, ruled an ancient kingdom believed to be in present-day Ethiopia or Yemen. Though often overshadowed by her biblical appearance in the story of King Solomon, Makeda was much more than a visitor to Israel—she was a sovereign in her own right.
In Ethiopian tradition, she is revered as the mother of Menelik I, founder of the Solomonic dynasty, which claimed lineage from Solomon himself. Her kingdom was wealthy, advanced in trade, architecture, and diplomacy. Yet, her story has often been reduced to a subplot in male-dominated narratives.
Makeda symbolizes African royalty, female power, and global influence long before Europe’s rise. Her legacy challenges Western timelines of civilization and shows the depth of African contributions to world history.
