Antioch Man Convicted of Murder in Love Triangle Shooting

Martinez, CA — A Contra Costa County jury has found Brian Yacopetti, 48, guilty of first-degree murder and assault in connection with a deadly 2023 shooting that stemmed from a troubled love triangle in Antioch. The shooting claimed the life of 39-year-old Jennifer Dallmann and seriously wounded her husband.
The incident occurred on May 25, 2023, in the 4400 block of Delta Fair Boulevard. According to witness accounts, Yacopetti had been romantically involved with Dallmann in an open relationship approved by her husband. However, tensions reportedly escalated following the couple’s breakup.
During trial proceedings, the defense argued that Yacopetti was intoxicated and emotionally unstable after Dallmann shouted “I hate you” during the breakup, asserting the killing was committed in a “heat of passion.” This argument was aimed at securing a lesser manslaughter charge. Jurors ultimately rejected the claim, siding with prosecutors who painted the act as premeditated and deliberate.
Yacopetti had only recently been released from prison for an aggravated assault conviction and was paroled to his father’s home in Bakersfield in September 2022 before relocating to the Bay Area. His Facebook profile, updated just days before the killing, declared: “I’m free, b—-,” referencing his release.
With the conviction, Yacopetti now faces 25 years to life in prison on the murder charge alone. Sentencing is expected in the coming weeks.
This case has reignited discussions around the risks of unstable post-incarceration relationships and the complexities of consensual non-monogamous arrangements when emotional volatility is involved.
