Don’s Laundry: How a 25-Year-Old Entrepreneur Is Carrying On the Family Legacy

Brandon Hollingsworth isn’t your typical 25-year-old. While many young adults are still finding their footing, Brandon took a leap of faith, stepped away from college, and dove headfirst into entrepreneurship. Now, he’s the proud owner of Don’s Laundry, located on Hollis Avenue in Queens Villa
ge.
It all started with a moment of honesty. Brandon sat down with his parents and told them he wanted to follow in their footsteps. The decision wasn’t met with resistance—it was met with pride.
"I'm very proud of him. Very proud—to the moon and back," his parent shared.
Brandon is no stranger to the laundromat business. His parents own two full-service laundromats, and he grew up learning the ropes. That experience gave him not only a strong foundation but also a vision.
“I feel like I’m setting a standard for my siblings, especially—and for other people who look like me,” Brandon says.
Brandon—affectionately called “Don” by friends and family—launched Don’s Laundry on December 31st. The shop quickly became a symbol of hard work, purpose, and passion. He shares the behind-the-scenes process on social media, giving followers a transparent look at what it takes to build a small business from the ground up.
A graduate of Freeport High School, Brandon left college during his sophomore year. But he didn’t do it aimlessly.
“He had a documented business plan. He knew exactly the steps he needed to take, and he was prepared,” his parent explained. “So, I couldn’t be upset with that.”
As the oldest of five, Brandon has always had a natural leadership instinct. His family jokes that his entrepreneurial spirit goes back to age six—when he convinced his younger brother to swap beds and do all the work in the process.
Today, that same charm and drive fuel his business.
Brandon Hollingsworth is more than just a business owner. He’s a blueprint for what’s possible when preparation meets purpose. And through Don’s Laundry, he’s proving that legacy isn’t just something you inherit—it’s something you build.
