Chaos in East Hollywood: 30 Injured After Driver Plows Into Crowd Outside Nightclub

East Hollywood turned into a mass casualty scene after a man intentionally drove his vehicle into a crowd outside a popular nightclub.
Authorities say the suspect, 29-year-old Fernando Ramirez, had been removed from The Vermont Hollywood nightclub shortly before 2 a.m. following a confrontation. Minutes later, he returned in a gray Nissan Versa and deliberately drove onto the sidewalk along Santa Monica Boulevard. The vehicle struck dozens of people waiting in line to enter the venue, including a valet stand and a food vendor.
Over 30 individuals were injured, including seven critically and six seriously. A total of 23 were hospitalized, while others declined treatment on scene. First responders quickly turned the sidewalk into a triage zone, with more than 120 firefighters and over 100 LAPD officers responding.
The situation escalated even further when bystanders dragged Ramirez from his vehicle and began beating him. Moments later, someone across the street shot him in the back. Ramirez was hospitalized, underwent surgery, and has since been taken into custody. He now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
As of this writing, the identity of the shooter remains unknown, and no arrests have been made in connection with the gunfire. LAPD continues to investigate the incident, and authorities have not ruled out additional charges.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass condemned the violence, describing it as a deliberate attack on innocent people. “This is the kind of senseless brutality that tears communities apart,” she said in a statement.
The case adds to a growing trend of vehicle-ramming incidents that have raised public safety concerns across the country. What began as a nightclub dispute has now triggered a complex investigation involving both assault and attempted murder, with more questions than answers.
This event marks one of the largest mass injury incidents in Los Angeles this year and highlights the growing volatility of nightlife-related violence in urban centers.
