JPMorgan Chase & Co, is accusing young Jewish entrepreneur Charlie Javice of scamming
The largest bank in the United States, JPMorgan Chase & Co, is accusing young Jewish entrepreneur Charlie Javice of pulling off the ultimate con job by tricking them into buying her startup Frank for a whopping $175 million.
The bank claims that Javice and her team fabricated millions of supposed clients, making Frank appear to be a wildly successful company, when in reality it was just a group of people pretending to be college students on a platform.
According to the lawsuit filed by JPMorgan, Javice and her team even went so far as to hire a data science professional to hide their actions and create fake profiles on the platform, in an effort to fool the bank's due-diligence team.
Javice's lawyers, however, are denying the accusations and are instead claiming that JPMorgan is just trying to avoid paying their client for her company.
In the end, it looks like the only thing Frank was able to "help" students with was making up fake numbers and putting on a good show.
Looks like in this case, crime doesn't pay!
